Collect

Let us pray that we may walk the risen life of Christ in glory.

Silence is kept.

God of glory, by the raising of your Son

you have broken the chains of death and hell: fill your Church with faith and hope; for a new day has dawned and the way to life stands open in our Saviour Jesus Christ.

All        Amen

First Reading (for your private reading)

1 Corinthians 15.1-11

1I would remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you in turn received, in which also you stand, 2through which also you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message that I proclaimed to you – unless you have come to believe in vain.

3For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, 4and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, 5and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. 7Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. 9For I am the least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace towards me has not been in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them – though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 11Whether then it was I or they, so we proclaim and so you have come to believe.

Gospel

Alleluia, alleluia.
I am the first and the last, says the Lord, and the living one;
I was dead, and behold I am alive for evermore.

All        Glory to you, O Lord.

Acts 10.34-43

34Peter began to speak to those assembled in the house of Cornelius. ‘I truly understand that God shows no partiality, 35but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. 36You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ – he is Lord of all. 37That message spread throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John announced: 38how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. 39We are witnesses to all that he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree; 40but God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear, 41not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses, and who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead. 43All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.’

This is the Gospel of the Lord

All        Praise to you, O Christ

Prayer after Communion

God of Life,
who for our redemption gave your only-begotten Son
to the death of the cross,
and by his glorious resurrection
have delivered us from the power of our enemy:
grant us so to die daily to sin,
that we may evermore live with him in the joy of his risen life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

All        Amen

Stewardship If you have already signed up to our Parish Giving Scheme (PGS), thank you.  If you would like to join this scheme, please contact our treasurer Charmaine Augustus (telephone 352914), who will be happy to provide you with the necessary form/information.  We now have so little take up on the boxed weekly stewardship envelopes that it is no longer viable for us to purchase them.  We hope therefore that those of you who currently give via this method will feel able to change to PGS,

Prayer list: The names of those who are ill or in need of prayer will remain on the prayer list for three weeks.  However, we realise that some people may need to be on for longer and, if this is the case, please speak with Carol Sharman who will be happy to arrange this.

Hymn

Jesus Christ is risen today, alleluia!

Our triumphant holy day, alleluia!

Who did once upon the cross, alleluia!

Suffer to redeem our loss, alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing, alleluia!

Unto Christ, our heav’nly King, alleluia!

Who endured the cross and grave, alleluia!

Sinners to redeem and save, alleluia!

But the pains that He endured, alleluia!

Our salvation have procured, alleluia!

Now above the sky He’s King, alleluia!

Where the angels ever sing, alleluia!

Reflection

Invitation to Confession

Christ died to sin once for all, and now he lives to God.

Let us renew our resolve to have done with all that is evil

and confess our sins in penitence and faith.

Confession

Jesus Christ, risen Master and triumphant Lord,

we come to you in sorrow for our sins, and confess to you our weakness and unbelief.

We have lived by our own strength, and not by the power of your

resurrection. In your mercy, forgive us.

Lord, hear us and help us.

We have lived by the light of our own eyes, as faithless and not believing.

In your mercy, forgive us.

Lord, hear us and help us.

We have lived for this world alone, and doubted our home in heaven.

In your mercy, forgive us.

Lord, hear us and help us.

Absolution

May the God of love and power

forgive you and free you from your sins,

heal and strengthen you by his Spirit,

and raise you to new life in Christ our Lord.

All Amen.

Prayers of Intercession

We pray to Jesus who is present with us to eternity.

Jesus, light of the world, bring the light and peace of your gospel to the nations … Jesus, Lord of life,

In your mercy, hear us.

Jesus, bread of life, give food to the hungry and nourish us all with your word… Jesus, Lord of life,

In your mercy, hear us.

Jesus, our way, our truth, our life,

be with us and all who follow you in the way …

Deepen our appreciation of your truth

and fill us with your life. Jesus, Lord of life,

In your mercy, hear us.

Jesus, Good Shepherd who gave your life for the sheep,

recover the straggler, bind up the injured, strengthen the sick

and lead the healthy and strong to new pastures. We give you thanks for all who have lived and believed in you, raise us with them to eternal life.

Jesus, Lord of life,

In your mercy, hear us, accept our prayers, and be with us always. Amen.

Eucharist Prayer Have your bread a wine ready

Risen Lord Jesus Christ, we believe you, and all we have heard is true.

When you break bread may we recognize you as the fire that burns within us, that we may bring light to your world.

The Lord be with you

All  and also with you.

Father, on the night before he died,

Jesus shared a meal with his friends.

He took the bread, and thanked you.

He broke it, and gave it to them, saying:

Take and eat; this is my body, given for you.

Do this to remember me.

After the meal, Jesus took the cup of wine.

He thanked you, and gave it to them, saying:

Drink this, all of you.

This is my blood, the new promise of God’s unfailing love.

Do this to remember me.

Jesus Christ has died.

All  Jesus Christ has died.

Jesus Christ is risen.

All  Jesus Christ is risen.

Jesus Christ will come again.

All  Jesus Christ will come again.

Father, as we bring this bread and wine,

and remember his death and resurrection,

send your Holy Spirit, that we who share these gifts, though apart but together now in you, may be fed by Christ’s body and his blood.

And now we give you thanks

because in his victory over the grave a new age has dawned,

the long reign of sin is ended, a broken world is being renewed

and humanity is once again made whole.

Pour your Spirit on us that we may love one another,

work for the healing of the earth, and share the good news of Jesus,
as we wait for his second coming in glory.

For honour and praise belong to you, Father,

with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit:

one God, for ever and ever. All Amen

We take communion.

The Lord’s Prayer

Let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us

All   Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come;

thy will be done;

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation;

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

the power and the glory,

for ever and ever.  Amen

Hymn

fill you with his new life;

and the blessing of God almighty,

the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

be among you and remain with you always.

All  Amen.

He is not here. He is risen.

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Alleluia, alleluia.
