Almighty Father,
whose Son was revealed in majesty
before he suffered death upon the cross:
give us grace to perceive his glory,
that we may be strengthened to suffer with him
and be changed into his likeness, from glory to glory;

Psalm 51

1 Have mercy on me, O God, in your great goodness;

according to the abundance of your compassion

blot out my offences.

2 Wash me thoroughly from my wickedness

and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my faults

and my sin is ever before me.

4 Against you only have I sinned

and done what is evil in your sight,

5 So that you are justified in your sentence

and righteous in your judgement.

6 I have been wicked even from my birth,

a sinner when my mother conceived me.

7 Behold, you desire truth deep within me

you take no delight in burnt offerings.

18 The sacrifice of God is a broken spirit;

a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

19 O be favourable and gracious to Zion;

build up the walls of Jerusalem.

Mark 9.2-9

²Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, ³and his clothes became dazzling white, such as no one on earth could bleach them. 4And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, who were talking with Jesus. 5Then Peter said to Jesus, ‘Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.’ 6He did not know what to say, for they were terrified. 7Then a cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud there came a voice, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!’ 8Suddenly when they looked around, they saw no one with them any more, but only Jesus.

9As they were coming down the mountain, he ordered them to tell no one about what they had seen, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

Prayer after Communion

Holy God,
we see your glory in the face of Jesus Christ:
may we who are partakers at his table
reflect his life in word and deed,
that all the world may know his power to change and save.
This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Stewardship If you have already signed up to our Parish Giving Scheme (PGS), thank you. If you would like to join this scheme, please contact our treasurer Charmaine Augustus (telephone 352914), who will be happy to provide you with the necessary form/information. We now have so little take up on the boxed weekly stewardship envelopes that it is no longer viable for us to purchase them. We hope therefore that those of you who currently give via this method will feel able to change to PGS,
